JUNIOR AMBASSADORS

At Coppermill, the junior ambassadors play a key role in supporting children around the school, being role models for others and a crucial part of pupil voice at the school. At the beginning of each year, children are given the opportunity to apply to be junior ambassadors by writing a letter to SLT explaining what skills and attributes they can bring to the role and why they think they should be chosen as a junior ambassador. These are read carefully by SLT before junior ambassadors for the year are selected. Please see the photo below for our wonderful junior ambassadors for this year.

The junior ambassadors main role is supporting our lunchtime staff to ensure the smooth running of our lunch hall and playgrounds. They take on a range of roles including supporting younger children in the playground and lunch hall, leading games, running the salad bar in the lunch hall, setting up and running colouring tables and feeding back any issues or concerns to staff. The children love this role which gives them a sense of responsibility and teaches them important leadership and decision making skills and also helps some of our younger children to feel safe and happy at school. Some of the things last year's junior ambassadors said about the role include:

"The younger children are so happy on the colouring tables, you can see it on their faces- that's what makes being a junior ambassador worth it!"

"It teaches you to walk a mile in a child's shoes and understand how they are feeling."
